Florida Hospital Waterman, Florida Hospital DeLand, Florida Hospital Flagler, and Shawnee Mission Medical Center were recently recognized nationally as Solucient 100 Top Hospitals. 

Shawnee Mission Medical Center and Florida Hospital Flagler were recognized as Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success.  This study identifies industry benchmarks by recognizing U.S. hospitals that demonstrate superior clinical, operational, and financial performance.  The hospitals were ranked on the basis of their performance on key measures relative to other hospitals in their group.
 
Shawnee Mission Medical Center received further recognition in Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: Performance Improvement Leaders, as well as Florida Hospital Waterman and Florida Hospital DeLand.  The Performance Improvement study recognizes hospitals and their management teams for leading facilities to achieve the fastest rate of consistent annual organizational improvement among all U.S. hospitals between 1999 and 2004. Using statistical analysis and comparing rates of improvement, the study reflects improvement in the areas of clinical outcomes, patient safety, efficiency, financial stability and growth.

The studies grouped hospitals into five comparison categories: Major Teaching Hospitals, Teaching Hospitals, Large Community Hospitals, Medium Community Hospitals and Small Community Hospitals.  Within each comparison group, hospitals were ranked on the basis of their performance in each of a number of performance measures.  The hospitals with the best total ranking in each comparison group were selected as Benchmarks or Performance Improvement Leaders.
