Childbirth Unit

Florida Hospital Waterman wants your birth experience to be all that you want it to be. Birth is a family event, and fathers or support persons are encouraged to participate in the labor and birth process. Maternity care is individualized for each family situation. Siblings and grandparents are invited to visit mom and the new baby. Visiting hours in the Mother Infant Unit are flexible for these important family members.

Our Labor and Delivery, nursery, and mother's unit are all staffed with nurses who enjoy taking care of you and your new infant. They are pleased to answer any questions you may have during your stay regarding infant care, breast feeding, immunizations, safety, and postpartum adjustments. Visiting hours are flexible for dads, grandparents and siblings. No children under 14 years of age except for the infants siblings are permitted.

For your baby’s safety, a security sensor is applied at birth and removed upon discharge. The Maternal Child Health Unit is closely monitored at all times, thus ensuring your peace of mind.

Lactation Information

Breast feeding your baby can be a rewarding experience for both mother and child. To this end, Florida Hospital Waterman invites you to call our Lactation Specialist at 352.253-3367 for additional information.
