Are you one of the five million people who have a wound or sore that won't heal? Or are you caring for someone who does?
The Vascular Center of Excellence / Wound and Hyperbaric Center can help you.
Our multidisciplinary team focuses on all aspects of wound care. The team consists of experienced healthcare professionals in the specialties of general surgery, vascular surgery, podiatry, nursing, diabetes, physical therapy and nutrition who take you step by step along the way through your diagnosis and treatment. Our goal is to assist you in the healing process and help prevent recurrence of these wounds. This comprehensive approach will help wounds to heal in the quickest, most cost effective way possible.
For the physician as well as the patient, treating a wound that refuses to heal is frustrating, time-consuming and expensive. Effective management usually requires a multidisciplinary approach, which is rarely practical for the individual physician.
Our comprehensive outpatient center is designed to work closely with your physician's existing services. Your referring physician will continue to treat the underlying condition and receive reports on your continuing progress.
Florida Hospital Waterman is also equipped with three Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) chambers. In HBO therapy, the patient breaths 100% oxygen at a pressure greater than one atmosphere, allowing parts of the body that are not getting enough circulation to receive additional oxygen and speed healing. On an outpatient basis, hyperbaric treatments are primarily used for patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, compromised skin grafts, acute peripheral arterial insufficiency, and certain infections.
