Arrhythmia Evaluation and Treatment
Florida Hospital Waterman's cardiologists perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation using EKG, electrophysiology studies, tilt testing and Holter monitoring. These tools assist the physician in identifying the arrhythmia and appropriate treatment for any simple or complex arrhythmia problem. The treatment may be as simple as medication or more complex such as pacemaker/ICD/Ablation therapy. This evaluation is done on an inpatient as well as outpatient basis.
Radiofrequency Ablation
FHW’s electrophysicologists perform radiofrequency ablation, a catheter-based procedure in which the physician maps areas of the heart that contain distinctive pathways and eliminates certain rapid heart rates (tachycardias) using radiofrequency waves.
Pacemaker/ICD
A pacemaker is implanted by an electrophysiologist in a patient with a slow heart rate, while an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) is a treatment option for patients who suffer with ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. FHW is also a leader in bi-ventricular pacing for Congestive Heart Failure patients, using the very latest state-of-art technology available, and substantially improving the quality of life in those patients.
