Cardiac rehabilitation is a process that allows patients with cardiovascular disease to restore and maintain their optimal physiological, psychological, social, vocational and emotional health. Currently with 150 active patients, the cardiac rehabilitation program at Florida Hospital Waterman helps patients reverse symptoms of heart disease and maximize cardiac function through an integrated approach to treatment. The program also educates patients and their families on the principles of cardiac disease management and secondary prevention.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Florida Hospital Waterman, which currently has 61 active patients, helps individuals living with pulmonary disease return to an active and functional daily life by improving their physical conditioning. Through individual assessment and instruction, patients learn how to minimize the lifestyle altering effects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Benefits of the program include risk modification, increased lung capacity, strength and stamina, and improved emotional and physical well-being.
Patients must have a doctor’s order to become part of the Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Florida Hospital Waterman. For more information, please call 352.253.3396.
